Reimann Investors as new lead investor

Content platform Scompler closes EUR 7 million financing round

FromMirko Lange

The B2B SaaS company Scompler from Munich has received an investment of seven million euros in a second financing round. The new lead investor is Reimann Investors, while existing investors neosfer (Commerzbank's early-stage investor) and Bayern Kapital (Bavaria's venture capital and growth investor for innovative technologies) are investing again. With the fresh capital, Scompler will massively strengthen its team, build on the leading position of its "Content Command Center" in German-speaking countries internationally and expand the interfaces to other technologies, for example from Microsoft, Adobe, Google or Staffbase.

Munich, May 5, 2022 - The "Content Command Center" from Scompler is one of the most powerful platforms for strategic brand and corporate communication on the market. It serves to professionalize all communication processes and strengthen cross-team collaboration. Companies can use Scompler to manage all communication content for the corporate newsroom as well as for social media, content marketing, storytelling, corporate communications and internal communications in one central location in a strategic, topic-oriented and collaborative manner.

Scompler has been a real success story since it was founded in May 2018: More than 250 customers with 5 to 500 users, a total of around 25,000 registered users from more than 20 countries, with customers ranging from NGOs to global corporations, including six DAX companies. The best-known names include Merck, Deutsche Post DHL, ADAC, Commerzbank and AOK, as well as Fridays for Future, UNICEF and Johanniter. The company completed its first financing round of 1.5 million euros in April 2020. The team around Mirko Lange (CEO) and Björn Bröhl (COO) has now grown to 55 people, who have doubled the recurring annual license revenue every year since then and increased the value of the company fivefold.

The mission: Creating better content together more easily

The aim of using the Content Command Center is to break down communication silos, create company-wide transparency about communication and significantly strengthen both the efficiency and effectiveness of communication and marketing. Scompler solves a problem that has arisen as a result of digitalization, the so-called content shock and consumer advertising fatigue: there is so much information available that companies can only reach their target groups with their communication in the long term if they publish relevant content in a well-coordinated manner in multi- or even omni-channel. However, the resulting increase in complexity can neither be managed with the general tools currently in use, such as Excel or Trello, nor with specialized channel tools, such as social media management suites.

"Digitalization is also bringing content and communication management together," says Mirko Lange. "It's no longer enough to simply fill individual channels with more and more content. Companies need to create better content. It's important to communicate real content and narratives in a coordinated manner." The greatest strength of Scompler is strategically aligning the measures of all players and ensuring that the strategy is also implemented in day-to-day business. The collaboration platform has become particularly important during the pandemic because it makes it much easier for distributed teams to work together, even when working from home.

The investors

"Scompler has developed extremely well since our seed financing round in April 2020," says Monika Steger, Managing Director of Bayern Kapital. "The innovative technology has long since proven itself in practice and, thanks to its scalability, we continue to see great growth potential. We are delighted to give the joint success story a new boost with funding from the Bayern Kapital Innovation Fund ERDF."

Reimann Investors is leading the financing round with its fund. "Scompler is the ideal tool for strategic brand and corporate communication. We are convinced that the company will continue to win such prestigious customers in this fast-growing market and continue its excellent growth. We are therefore looking forward to working with the exceptionally competent and experienced team to further develop the company in the future," comments Hans-Christian Perle, Managing Director of Reimann Investors.

Reimann Investors is the family office of members of the Reimann family of entrepreneurs, who sold their stake in the former family business at the end of the 1990s. The fund's investment focus is on young, innovative and fast-growing companies. The fund's management acts as a strategically active shareholder, supporting and promoting the development of companies in close cooperation with the management. The fund focuses on the areas of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), FinTech and digital commerce.

Founder Scompler

Mirko Lange has been a communications consultant for 27 years and a lecturer at several universities since 2001. In 1999, he founded one of the first consulting firms for online PR in Germany and made a name for himself as the first specialist for corporate communications on the social web in 2008. In 2010, he advised Deutsche Bahn ("Facebook Ticket") and Nestlé ("Kitkat"), among others, on crisis communications, which were hit by the first "shitstorms" in Germany. As a result, Deutsche Bahn, for example, aligned its entire communication to the social web, a process that Lange accompanied. This project resulted in the communication management software Scompler. Scompler now has more than 300 customers, including 6 DAX companies.
