Accessibility as part of our responsibility

Michael Schmitz, consultant at Scompler, focuses intently on his laptop during the digital content strategy session.

Accessibility is a key prerequisite for digital participation. Good software must be usable by everyone—regardless of physical, sensory, or cognitive abilities. In communication, this means that information, processes, and content must not exclude anyone.

At Scompler, accessibility is therefore firmly anchored in the DNA of our platform – technologically, conceptually, and organizationally. We develop our solution with the aim of taking accessibility into account from the outset and adapting it to international standards such as WCAG and EN 301 549, with compliance documented by VPAT reports. We don't limit ourselves to formal checklists, but consider real-life usage scenarios, such as with screen readers, keyboard navigation, or enlarged display.

In current tests, we meet 93 out of 100 WCAG AA criteria. This rating underscores the high accessibility of our platform—but it does not replace looking at actual usage. This rating underscores the high accessibility of our platform—but it does not replace looking at actual usage. After all, accessibility cannot be meaningfully reduced to a single metric. The decisive factor is whether users can perform their tasks reliably, independently, and without barriers.

Today, our platform already offers comprehensive support: from screen reader compatibility and keyboard navigation to customizable display and epilepsy-safe animation settings. At the same time, we don't see accessibility as a finished state, but as a continuous development process. Our roadmap includes targeted further developments of UI and UX with the clear goal of gradually expanding the accessibility of our platform to achieve complete coverage.

For us, accessibility is not an optional feature. It is our obligation to enable participation for all communicators—and the foundation for a shared, reliable basis in communication.

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of our website!
